GivingTuesday: Help Cover the Cost of a Pediatric Well-Visit for a Child in Our Community
This GivingTuesday, which is on November 29, Community Health Alliance is focused on helping our patients who are under the age of 18.
Healthcare coverage is important for children because it improves overall access to pediatrician-recommended care and services that support healthy development. When children are established with a pediatrician, they are more likely to receive timely immunizations and development assessments, stay on track with annual well-visits and are less likely to visit the emergency room for injuries and illnesses. They are also more likely to succeed in school, graduate from high school and attend college, earn higher wages, and grow up to become healthy adults.
In Washoe County, the percentage of uninsured children who are under the age of 18 is 16.8 percent. According to the Children’s Health Care Report Card, Nevada ranks 45th out of 51 states in the United States when it comes to the number of uninsured children under the age of 18. Here at Community Health Alliance, it is our vision and mission to provide quality health care to all, especially patients who are uninsured or underinsured.
You can help make a difference! Every donation earned during GivingTuesday will help cover the cost of a pediatric visit for families who are uninsured or underinsured in our community. Our goal is to raise $10,000. Each pediatric visit costs an average of $180. We can help cover the cost for 55 pediatric patients to help ensure that more children have access to the quality health care they deserve.
