Whole-Person Care Starts Here: Behavioral Health Services at Community Health Alliance

Asking for help is a sign of strength.

Dr. Wolfe Behavioral Health Month

At Community Health Alliance (CHA), we believe health is about more than physical wellness. Mental and emotional well-being are just as important to living a healthy, fulfilling life. That’s why our behavioral health team is committed to providing compassionate, accessible care for patients of all ages across Northern Nevada.

Whether someone is experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, substance use challenges, or simply feeling overwhelmed, support is available — and no one has to navigate it alone.

What Is Behavioral Health Care?

Behavioral health care focuses on the connection between mental, emotional, and physical health. It can include support for:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Stress and emotional wellness
  • Trauma and grief
  • Serious mental illness
  • Substance use disorders
  • Behavioral challenges in children and adolescents
  • Relationship and family concerns
  • Coping skills and healthy habit development

At CHA, behavioral health services are integrated into our primary care model. That means patients can receive behavioral health support alongside medical and dental care in a familiar, trusted environment.

Why Integrated Care Matters

Many people first bring up emotional or mental health concerns during a primary care appointment. By offering behavioral health services within our health centers, patients can access support more quickly and easily.

Integrated care helps reduce barriers like stigma, transportation challenges, and long wait times for referrals. In many cases, patients can receive immediate support from a behavioral health provider during the same visit.

This whole-person approach improves outcomes and helps patients feel supported every step of the way.

Services Available at CHA

Community Health Alliance offers a wide range of behavioral health services designed to meet patients where they are. Services include:

Our behavioral health team includes providers with diverse backgrounds and specialized training, allowing us to care for a wide variety of patient needs with compassion and expertise.

The Power of Group Therapy

CHA recently expanded group therapy services at the OUR Center, creating new opportunities for patients to connect, heal, and grow together.

Group therapy offers a supportive space where individuals can learn coping strategies, improve emotional wellness, and build community with others facing similar challenges. For many patients, simply realizing they are not alone can be an important step toward healing.

These sessions focus on practical tools for managing stress, building resilience, and improving overall well-being.

Support for Children and Teens

Behavioral health support is important at every stage of life, especially for children and adolescents. CHA is expanding services for young patients through a new testing service line that includes cognitive, behavioral, socioemotional, and ADHD assessments for children ages 6–18.

Early identification and intervention can make a meaningful difference in a child’s academic success, emotional health, and long-term development.

Breaking the Stigma Around Mental Health

One of the most important messages our behavioral health team wants patients to hear is this: asking for help is a sign of strength.

Behavioral health care is not only for moments of crisis. It can also help people learn healthy coping skills, better understand themselves, navigate life changes, strengthen relationships, and connect with valuable resources.

Seeking support early can make a lasting impact on overall health and quality of life.

Expanding Access Across Northern Nevada

As the largest Federally Qualified Health Center in Northern Nevada, CHA serves more than 35,000 patients each year through six health centers and mobile medical and dental programs.

We are continuing to grow our behavioral health services to meet the evolving needs of our community, including the expansion of on-site behavioral health support at our newly remodeled Neil Road Health Center.

Everyone deserves access to high-quality, compassionate care — including behavioral healthcare.

If you or someone you love could benefit from behavioral health support, Community Health Alliance is here to help.
