Community Health Alliance (CHA) recently celebrated the completion of the expanded and remodeled Neil Road Health Center, marking a significant investment in the future of healthcare access for Nevada families.

Community leaders, healthcare partners, donors, elected officials, and community members gathered on May 13 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony recognizing the completion of the $8.6 million expansion and renovation project at the Nell J. Redfield Health Center, located at 3915 Neil Road in Reno.

The project includes a 4,000-square-foot addition and a comprehensive remodel of the existing facility, positioning the health center to serve an additional 4,000 patients annually and increasing total capacity to approximately 7,500 patients each year.

More than a facility expansion, the project represents a strategic investment in Nevada’s healthcare infrastructure at a time when communities across the state continue to experience growing demand for quality and accessible integrated healthcare services.

“For more than two decades, the Neil Road Health Center has been a trusted source of care for families throughout Northern Nevada,” said Oscar Delgado, President and CEO of Community Health Alliance. “This expansion ensures that thousands more Nevadans will have access to the comprehensive healthcare services they need close to home. By increasing access to preventive care, behavioral health services, pharmacy services, and nutrition support, we are helping build healthier communities and a stronger Nevada.”

The City of Reno provided a transformational $5 million investment through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, helping make the project possible and reinforcing a shared commitment to improving community health outcomes.

The newly expanded facility features additional medical exam rooms, dedicated behavioral health spaces, an on-site pharmacy, and a prescription food pantry that addresses food insecurity and chronic disease management. By bringing these services together under one roof, patients can receive coordinated, whole-person care that improves health outcomes while reducing barriers to treatment.

Healthcare leaders note that investments like the Neil Road Health Center have impacts that extend far beyond a single neighborhood. Expanded access to primary and preventive care helps reduce emergency department utilization, improves chronic disease management, supports maternal and child health, and creates healthier communities that contribute to Nevada’s economic vitality.

As Nevada continues to grow, community health centers play an increasingly important role in ensuring healthcare access for working families, children, seniors, and individuals who may otherwise struggle to receive timely care.

The project was made possible through the support of numerous community partners, donors, and healthcare organizations committed to advancing health equity and improving access to care.

Community Health Alliance would like to recognize the support of Nevada’s managed care organizations, including UnitedHealthcare Health Plan of Nevada, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Molina Healthcare of Nevada, and SilverSummit Healthplan, whose partnership helps strengthen healthcare access for thousands of Nevadans each year.

“The success of this project demonstrates what is possible when public, private, and nonprofit organizations come together around a shared vision,” Delgado said. “Every exam room, every behavioral health visit, every prescription filled, and every family served through this facility represents an investment in the future health of our state.”

Since assuming operations of the Neil Road Health Center in 2012, Community Health Alliance has continued to expand services and access throughout Northern Nevada. Today, CHA serves more than 36,000 patients annually through six health centers, mobile medical and dental units, and a comprehensive network of integrated healthcare services.

The completion of the Neil Road Health Center expansion ensures that the facility will continue serving generations of Nevada families while helping meet the state’s growing healthcare needs for decades to come.
