Coffee for a Cure

The Human Bean will once again host its annual “Coffee for a Cure” fundraiser on Friday, October 17 from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. at all five of its Reno and Sparks drive-thru locations. During this one-day event, 100% of proceeds and tips will be donated to Community Health Alliance to fund breast cancer screenings and navigation services for uninsured and underinsured women across northern Nevada.

“Early detection saves lives,” said Maria Partida, cancer care coordinator at Community Health Alliance. “Because of The Human Bean’s generosity and our community’s support, more than 500 women were able to complete their breast cancer screenings last year. These efforts help ensure that every woman, regardless of income or insurance status, has access to life-saving care.”

Since 2014, The Human Bean has partnered with Community Health Alliance to make early breast cancer detection possible for thousands of local women. One patient shared her experience after receiving a screening through the program:

“My doctor found a mass, which turned out to be cancer. I thank God it was caught in time, and I was able to have the malignant tumor removed.”

“Hosting Coffee for a Cure is one of the most meaningful things we do each year,” said Tasha Frey, regional manager of The Human Bean. “We’re proud to see how every cup of coffee served that day directly supports women in our community.”
