Biography

Mashara was born and raised in Reno, NV. She graduated in 2014 with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Nevada, Reno. During her undergraduate studies, she realized the importance of taking a holistic, systemic approach to mental health and chose to continue her education at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she completed a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2016. During her Master’s program, she had the opportunity to participate in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Minority Youth Fellowship program, where she received specialized training in working with at-risk and marginalized youth populations. Since graduation, Mashara has worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, working with clients of all ages and backgrounds.

Mashara’s view on therapy is person-centered and collaborative. She views clients as experts on their own lives who sometimes need a helping hand in identifying and overcoming barriers preventing them from achieving the life they desire. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so Mashara uses an integrative approach to tailor sessions to the needs of the individual. Mashara has training and experience in evidence-based practices including trauma­informed cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, internal family systems therapy and play therapy, and is always seeking new clinical knowledge and skills. She has a special passion for working with children, teens, and young adults, but continues to treat clients across the lifespan, including individuals, couples, and families.

Personal Interests

In her free time, Mashara enjoys baking, reading, crafts and art, and physical activities such as hiking, weightlifting, and yoga.
