Community Health Alliance Secures Permanent Home on Wells Avenue

With full ownership now secured, Community Health Alliance is positioned to expand its impact and realize its vision of a modern, integrated health campus.

Community Health Alliance proudly announces the full ownership of its Wells Avenue Health Center and surrounding buildings including their Center for Complex Care, marking a major milestone in the organization’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality care in the heart of Reno.

In January 2024, Community Health Alliance purchased the Wells Avenue Health Center with critical financial support from the State of Nevada and the assistance of its local banking partner, United Federal Credit Union. This acquisition ensured long-term stability for the location, which has served as a vital access point for primary care, dental services, behavioral health, pharmacy services, and prescription food pantry support for the surrounding community.

Building on this strong foundation, the William N. Pennington Foundation generously paid off the remainder of the $2.7 million mortgage in November 2024—cementing Community Health Alliance’s permanent presence in the neighborhood and freeing up resources to enhance patient services and expand care.

Community Health Alliance provides a comprehensive range of integrated health services to meet the diverse needs of the community including primary care, pediatric care, reproductive health, maternal health services, dental services, behavioral health, pharmacies, prescription food pantries, WIC, care coordination, case management, and more.

With full ownership of the site secured, Community Health Alliance now looks ahead to the future with plans to develop the Wells Avenue location into a comprehensive health campus. The vision includes expanded clinical services, enhanced wraparound support, and infrastructure improvements that will meet the growing needs of the Reno community for decades to come.

This year alone, the Wells Avenue Health Center is on pace to provide 40,864 patient visits, serving 14,649 unique individuals. These numbers reflect both the high demand for services and the essential role the center plays in delivering care to underserved and uninsured populations in the region.

Beyond improved access to care, this investment in the Wells Avenue Health Center represents a significant economic driver for the region. The planned expansion is expected to create new healthcare jobs, generate construction-related economic activity, and provide long-term stability for a neighborhood anchored by small businesses, schools, and diverse families. The transformation into a health campus will allow Community Health Alliance to serve more patients, support healthcare workforce development, and reduce long-term healthcare costs by offering preventive and integrated care under one roof.

“This building is more than just brick and mortar—it’s a trusted place where individuals and families receive care and support,” said Oscar Delgado, chief executive officer at Community Health Alliance. “We are incredibly grateful to the State of Nevada, the William N. Pennington Foundation, and United Federal Credit Union for making this lasting investment in the health and future of our community.”

With full ownership now secured, Community Health Alliance is positioned to expand its impact and realize its vision of a modern, integrated health campus that promotes long-term health and prosperity for all.
