A Circle of Care: From New Mother to Grateful Donor

“Community Health Alliance didn’t just fix my teeth—they changed my life.”

Shanna and Felix Donor Patient Story

Fifteen years ago, Shanna walked through our doors as a new mother in need. Having recently given birth to her son, she was dealing with painful cavities that required immediate attention. What she found at Community Health Alliance was more than just dental care—she found compassion and commitment.

Dr. Jessica Clausen recognized the urgency of Shanna’s situation and knew that quality dental care shouldn’t be out of reach for a new mother. Like many families, Shanna found herself in that difficult gap—not qualifying for Medicaid but unable to afford the dental care she desperately needed. Working tirelessly to secure grant funding, Dr. Clausen ensured that Shanna could receive the comprehensive treatment she needed. Through multiple visits and thorough cleanings, our team was able to successfully address her cavities, restoring not just her oral health, but her confidence and wellbeing.

Fast forward to today, and Shanna’s story has come full circle in the most beautiful way. When she recently received a small inheritance, she knew exactly how she wanted to honor the care she received all those years ago. Shanna generously donated $1,000 to Community Health Alliance specifically to purchase water picks for our pediatric patients—ensuring that other families would have access to the preventive tools they need for healthy smiles.

But the story doesn’t end there. Her son, now 14 years old, has become a patient himself under the same caring hands of Dr. Clausen. What began as one mother’s urgent need for dental care has blossomed into a multi-generational relationship built on trust, quality care, and giving back.

Shanna’s journey from patient to donor exemplifies the lasting impact of accessible, compassionate healthcare. Her gift will help countless young patients maintain their oral health, creating ripples of positive change throughout our community for years to come.
