COVID-19 Resources and Updates

Changes to Services Community Health Alliance Offers

Updated: April 2, 2020

-Pharmacy: Our pharmacy has chosen to make some changes to our process in order to comply with social distancing. We are limiting the amount of people allowed into the Wells Ave. Health Center pharmacy to five (5) people at one time, standing 6 ft. apart. In an effort to minimize traffic and support social distancing guidelines, for our pharmacy patients, we have introduced curbside pickup and delivery service within a 15-mile radius from our Wells Ave. Health Center. Please contact our pharmacy team at (775) 336-3035  to schedule a delivery or curbside pick-up.

-Suspended Direct Patient Contact: Please note we have suspended operations at our Record St. Health Center to concentrate on screening resources and limit physical contact. We are offering telehealth visits for both primary and behavioral health appointments. If you haven’t heard from our scheduling team, please call us at (775) 329-6300.

-Dental: Due to recommendations from the American Dental Association and the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners related to COVID-19, Community Health Alliance will be temporarily reducing the dental services we offer. During this time, we will be postponing all elective dental procedures. These elective dental procedures include regular exams, cleanings, fillings, crowns, and fabrication of dentures. We will continue to offer emergency dental services, which may include limited evaluations, some extractions, and some temporary fillings.

We are, however, seeing patients with emergency dental needs at our Wells Health Center. We are open Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m, and Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please call us to make an appointment at (775) 329-6300. We accept walk-ins until 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and until 3 p.m. on Fridays.

-WIC services: Community Health Alliance WIC will continue to enroll families in need of WIC services by phone. We have temporarily suspended physical services at the following locations: Sutro Head Start, Wooster Family Resource Center, Sun Valley, and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, Sparks Health Center, Wells Medical Center, and Nell J Redfield Health Center on Neil Road.

If you receive WIC services at these locations or wish to enroll in the program, we encourage you to call (775) 870-4343 . We are conducting any scheduled WIC appointments over the phone so our clients can continue to practice social distancing. Eligibility information can be faxed to (775) 870-4643.

CHA Screening Protocols for COVID-19 (coronavirus)

At Community Health Alliance, while we are unable to test for COVID-19, we have implemented protocols in an effort to protect the health of our patients and staff.

Providing quality health care is always a top priority for us, and our staff is working hard to ensure everyone’s safety during this time. We remain committed to upholding the highest standards, and want you to feel welcome and at ease when you visit us.

Screenings Over the Phone

If you have had close contact with a person known to have COVID-19, or have a fever and cough, runny nose, muscle aches, or shortness of breath, please call the Washoe County Health District directly at (775) 328-2427.

Screenings Prior to Entering Our Health Centers

We will screen all patients and visitors for COVID-19 (coronavirus) prior to entering our health centers. Staff will ask you and those in your group a few screening questions and take your temperature. If you are clear to enter, you will receive a ticket allowing entry to the health center. Your well-being is our topmost priority, and we will continue to adapt our protocol and procedures as the situation evolves.

Visitors

If you have a companion for your appointment, they will also be screened prior to being allowed to enter the building.
